Qualifications carry weight here

Finance is one of the sectors where a recognised professional qualification — ACCA, CPA, CFA, SOCPA — changes the band rather than decorating the CV, particularly in audit, financial reporting and treasury. Big-four experience travels well into the local market.

Riyadh, and increasingly so

The capital has consolidated as the financial centre, and the regional-headquarters programme has pulled more corporate finance functions into it. Jeddah retains the family conglomerates; the Eastern Province has the industrial finance functions.

A note candidates abroad should hear plainly

Accounting and finance are among the sectors where Saudization targets are most actively enforced, so a proportion of the roles you see advertised are open only to Saudi nationals whether or not the advert says so. That is not a reason to avoid the sector — senior, specialised and IFRS-heavy roles are regularly filled from abroad — but it explains why applications into junior finance postings from outside the Kingdom often go unanswered.

Worth asking

Whether the role reports into a group function or a local entity, and whether the reporting standard is IFRS as endorsed in Saudi Arabia.

How to read these figures

  • Observed ranges are computed from salaries stated in live listings on this site. They skew toward roles whose employers publish pay, which is a minority.
  • Researched ranges come from desk research and are estimates, not measurements.
  • Figures are gross monthly base pay. They exclude housing and transport allowances, which in Saudi Arabia commonly add 25–35% to base.
  • There is no personal income tax on salary in Saudi Arabia, so gross is much closer to net than in most European markets.
