The figure understates the job

Hospitality packages here are usually built around provided accommodation, meals on duty and transport, so a monthly salary compared directly against a European one is not a like-for-like comparison — often not even close. Establish what is provided before you judge the number.

Two different markets

The pilgrimage cities. Makkah and Madinah operate hotels at a scale that exists almost nowhere else, on an occupancy cycle set by Hajj and Ramadan rather than business travel. Note before applying that entry to Makkah is restricted to Muslims, and that the central district of Madinah is too.

The tourism programme. The Red Sea developments, Diriyah, Qiddiya and the new Riyadh and Jeddah openings are recruiting for luxury and leisure operations, and pay above the traditional market for pre-opening and operations roles with international brand experience.

Worth asking

What the working pattern is during Hajj and Ramadan, whether accommodation is single or shared, and — for a pre-opening role — what happens to the position after the opening.

How to read these figures

  • Observed ranges are computed from salaries stated in live listings on this site. They skew toward roles whose employers publish pay, which is a minority.
  • Researched ranges come from desk research and are estimates, not measurements.
  • Figures are gross monthly base pay. They exclude housing and transport allowances, which in Saudi Arabia commonly add 25–35% to base.
  • There is no personal income tax on salary in Saudi Arabia, so gross is much closer to net than in most European markets.
