What KFSH&RC is

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) is, in the words of its own About page, one of the Kingdom's "foremost tertiary and quaternary care institutions". It has medical centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah, and its mission refers to "an integrated education and research setting". A royal decree in December 2021 turned KFSH&RC into an independent, non-profit institution, as reported by Arab News.

What they hire for

This site carried two KFSH&RC adverts on 9 October 2026: a Staff Nurse I in Jeddah and a Senior Clinical Engineer in Riyadh. That is too few to show a pattern on their own. KFSH&RC's job listing is the full picture: it filters by location (Riyadh, Jeddah or Madinah), with search by job title or department.

Postgraduate medical training is a separate route. KFSH&RC's residency and fellowship programmes are accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). Applications go through the SCFHS website, and international medical graduates may apply.

What candidates should know

There is an English test before the interview

KFSH&RC's careers page sets out the sequence:

Apply through the careers portal.
Shortlisted candidates sit KFSH&RC's English Language Competency Test (ELCT).
Interviews with the hiring teams.
A formal offer letter covering pay, benefits and terms.

A valid IELTS score of 5.5 or above exempts you from the ELCT. If you already have one, say so when you apply.

On timing, the same page's FAQ says shortlisted candidates "typically receive notification within 2-4 weeks" for the ELCT and interview stage. It says onboarding, including visa processing for international candidates, "can take several weeks depending on documentation requirements".

Licensing has two stages, and only the first can start from abroad

According to the SCFHS:

Classification grants "the appropriate professional degree", meaning the grade you are licensed at. You can apply for it from outside the Kingdom through the Mumaris Plus system, and you do not need a Saudi work permit at that first stage.
Registration comes after classification. It requires lawful residence in Saudi Arabia and is valid for two years.
Verification: for certificates issued outside the Kingdom, the SCFHS certificate verification process has DataFlow contact the body that issued each certificate. The final DataFlow report must be attached to your application.

That verification waits on replies from your universities and past licensing bodies, so start it the moment an offer is real. Your classification also decides the pay band you can be hired into; see what healthcare roles pay.

The published processing times

These are service targets, not guarantees, and neither body publishes them by profession:

DataFlow verification: the DataFlow FAQ for SCFHS applications gives a standard time frame of "15 to 25 working days" from payment and submission of a complete set of documents. It says incomplete submissions and late replies from issuing bodies can delay it.
SCFHS classification: the SCFHS FAQ gives 7 working days for a direct decision, 30 working days where an electronic written exam is needed, and 35 working days where a practical evaluation is needed.
SCFHS registration: 5 working days.

SCFHS says the final DataFlow report must be attached to the classification application, so plan for verification to finish before the classification clock starts. SCFHS can revise these targets, so check its FAQ again when you apply.

Ask whether KFSH&RC sponsors and pays for classification, DataFlow verification and the two-yearly registration renewal, and get the answer in the offer letter.

The published benefits list is specific, but not by role

KFSH&RC's careers pages list these benefits on its "Why join us" page:

free, fully furnished accommodation in gated compounds with 24-hour security, or a housing allowance instead
complimentary daily transport between housing and hospital
complimentary tickets home for you and eligible family members
55 days of annual leave per year
full medical cover, including vaccinations and dental care, for you and your family
an end-of-service gratuity

The page does not say which staff categories these apply to. Elsewhere it describes annual travel allowances as being for "international staff" and relocation support as being for "international employees", so at least some benefits depend on staff category. The 55-day figure appears in one section, while another speaks only of "generous annual leave allowances". Treat the list as what KFSH&RC offers somewhere in its workforce, not as your package. Check each item against your own offer letter, and do not assume a nursing package matches a consultant's.

The city is part of the offer

Ask for the contract length

KFSH&RC's careers pages do not state an initial contract length for international staff. Ask for it, together with the renewal terms and the notice period, and make sure all three are written into the offer letter.
