What NEOM is

NEOM Company was incorporated in 2019 as a single-shareholder joint stock company to develop what it calls "a region in the making" in northwest Saudi Arabia: Oxagon, THE LINE, Trojena, Magna, the Islands of NEOM and a nature reserve. The Public Investment Fund's 2026–2030 strategy treats NEOM as one of six "ecosystems" in its Vision Portfolio.

What they hire for

NEOM's careers page does not list disciplines. It says opportunities span "a wide variety of industries", with development programmes "from internships to coaching for senior staff". The business sectors it names are biotech; design and construction; education, research and innovation; energy; food; health and wellbeing; media, entertainment and culture; mobility; sport; technology and digital; tourism; and water.

Where the weight now sits matters more than that list. In April 2026 the PIF governor named Oxagon as the part of NEOM that "we must have". NEOM describes Oxagon as an industrial hub anchored by the Port of NEOM, attracting partners "across renewable energy and AI-driven industries".

What candidates should know

The scope has changed, on the record

  • 12 November 2024: chief executive Nadhmi Al-Nasr departed. Aiman Al-Mudaifer, head of PIF's local real estate division since 2018, became acting CEO and was confirmed as managing director and CEO on 11 May 2025.
  • October 2022 to February 2026: the Olympic Council of Asia awarded the 2029 Asian Winter Games to Trojena in October 2022. The OCA and the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee later confirmed "the postponement of the 2029 edition to a later date". On 5 February 2026 the OCA signed the host city contract for the 2029 Games with Kazakhstan's National Olympic Committee, to be staged in Almaty.
  • 15 April 2026: PIF's board approved the fund's 2026–2030 strategy. Reporting the same day, Saudi Gazette quoted PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan, in an interview with Al Arabiya Business, as saying that no NEOM projects had been cancelled and that the company had been directed to reorganise expenditure. On THE LINE: "Is having The Line by 2030 important? I don't think so. It would be good to have, but it's not a must." He added that the next phase of NEOM and other mega-projects will aim to meet targets with less direct PIF funding.
  • 13 August 2026: reviewing the strategy, Arab News reported that when it was unveiled in April the governor said NEOM's plans are based on gradual implementation and a reprioritization of spending. NEOM's own site describes THE LINE as "advancing through a phased, demand-led approach".

If a role is tied to THE LINE or Trojena, ask in interview what that programme's current timeline is and what happens to your post if it is re-phased again.

Ask, too, which legal entity would employ you. Some NEOM-branded work sits in joint ventures. NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, for example, describes itself as "an equal joint venture" of ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM. The entity on your contract is the one that sponsors your visa and iqama and owes your end-of-service benefit.

Location is the decision

In October 2020 NEOM moved its headquarters to the project site, 170 km from Tabuk, and said it would keep an office in Riyadh. Whether your role is on site or in Riyadh changes everything else, so get it in writing. See NEOM and Riyadh.

For life on site, NEOM's careers page (checked 10 October 2026) says:

  • employees have private accommodation in gated communities near their workplace. Confirm in writing that this applies to your grade and contract type, and whether it covers dependants;
  • international schooling runs up to grade 11, so on NEOM's own description there is no on-site schooling beyond grade 11;
  • there is an on-site NEOM Hospital with clinics and emergency services, and flights run through NEOM Bay Airport and Tabuk Airport;
  • English is "the main language for all communication at NEOM".

The careers page says nothing about rotation schedules or leave travel. For a site-based role, ask the recruiter whether the post runs on a rotation and, if so, what the pattern is. Ask how many leave flights a year are included, to which city, and whether dependants are covered. Get each answer into the contract.
